About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
At T.R.A.P.A., our mission is to empower, uplift, and advocate for underserved and marginalized communities by addressing the interconnected challenges of trauma, poverty, and systemic inequities. We are committed to eradicating hunger, combating poverty, and providing pathways to stable housing and holistic wellness. Our work includes supporting youth navigating teenage pregnancy and teen fatherhood, assisting individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and offering resources for those impacted by substance abuse. Through community-driven initiatives, education, and advocacy, we strive to foster healing, resilience, and purpose in every life we touch.

Our Story
The decision of three women of color, and United States veterans, to launch a nonprofit organization in New Jersey focusing on issues such as sexual and domestic violence, poverty, homelessness, veteran affairs and trauma recovery, stems from a combination of their unique personal experiences, professional backgrounds, and a shared recognition of an unmet need within underserved and marginalized communities.
With over 35 years of combined experience, these women bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, insight, and empathy to this initiative.
The reasons for their decision can be understood through various lenses:
-
Personal Experience and Empathy
-
Professional Expertise
-
Recognition of a Service Gap
-
Empowerment through Representation
-
Commitment to Change
